Major SafeTrack Schedule Updates

WMATA announced yesterday that changes to SafeTrack surges will be made to accommodate for new safety recommendations, as well as weather impacts. Surges 7, 8 and 9 have all been adjusted which will include weekend line shutdown.

Surge 7 Extended to August 21 

Weekend shutdown added

The current surge will now run through August 21 with line shutdown between Grosvenor and Shady Grove on August 20 and 21. Free shuttle bus service will be available for riders. More details here.

Surge 8 Dates Changed

Consecutive weekend shutdowns

The start and end dates for Surge 8 have been updated and will include three consecutive weekend shutdowns. Buses will replace trains between affected stations. More details here.

WEEKEND LINE SHUTDOWN

Surge 7-9 will include full weekend line segment shutdowns. Free shuttle buses will be supplied for riders between closed stations. Please allow additional travel time or use an alternate mode.

Surge 9 Single Tracking

No weekend service continues

Trains will continuously single track between Vienna and West Falls Church, running every 6 minutes during rush hour. Commuters are encouraged to find other boarding locations. Weekend shutdown will extend to this surge as well. More details here.
